The recycling education we received from UNLV's Recycling Manager and Sustainability Coordinator Tara Pike-Nordstrom was eye-opening! It became apparent that attempting to recycle the plates and cups we use is not feasible for us. Many attendees at Tara's presentation loved the idea of bringing their own mugs, plates, and silverware on Sundays, with which to enjoy the fellowship. We invite you to consider doing the same. We also encourage you to use the cloth napkins donated and laundered weekly by one of our members to help reduce our kitchen waste (please don't use the cloth napkins as rags...the kitchen staff will be happy to provide rags for wiping up spills).
We are also using more recycled-content paper goods; this is another way to support the recycling consciousness. And the office will continue faithfully to recycle its paper and cardboard.
If you have other ideas of ways for us to be friendlier to our environment, please share them! And thanks for helping us to live greener lives.
