A Letter from our Core Council President-Barbara Schweppe

people

YOU, LIKE ALL OTHERS, ARE SEEKING THE JOY OF LIVING.  YOU WISH TO BE NEEDED.  TO BE LOVED, TO BE INCLUDED IN THE GREAT DRAMA OF LIFE.  THIS URGE IS IN EVERY INDIVIDUAL.  IT IS IN EVERYTRHING.  Ernest Holmes, This Thing Called You

Dear Fellow Seekers,

This Thing Called You was the reason I joined Center for Spiritual Living, Greater Las Vegas. The above quote can be found on the first page in the first lines of the first paragraph.  Just like Martin Sheen said in the TV series, West Wing, “It’s a real page turner.”  I was hooked.  It spoke to me, exposing my secrets. That I wanted to be loved. That I wanted to belong.  That I wanted to make a difference.

I’m so grateful for my personal spiritual awakening and the changes in my life as a result of CSLGLV.  I’ve learned not to take myself so seriously but also to take seriously my commitments.  I’ve grown more flexible while standing firm in my values.  I practice forgiveness more often with others and with myself.  I take more risks, realizing that if I don’t, life’s drama will escape me and I’ll miss the fun.

Recently, I took a road trip along the west coast from LA to the Canada border.  Having lived in Las Vegas for twenty years, it was time to see what so many people have talked about.  What a beautiful country we live in.  From the opulent Getty Museum, to the giant Redwoods, to the majestic Columbia River Bar, to the quiet inlets of the San Juan Islands, I experienced peace, freedom and joy.

Along my travels, I was able to join two Sunday services.  The CSL in San Jose and the Unity Center in Portland.  The Unity Center was having a special fund raising month.  I liked their idea so much that when I returned, I immediately shared it with the Leadership Council.  I asked others to join me but what I came to realize was that it is really up to me…so I would like to share this vision with you.

In 2016, I was fortunate to be part of a real estate closing, but money has been withheld erroneously.  Because of this, I have been living from a position of lack.  After witnessing the special fund raising project in Portland, I’ve decided to live from a position of abundance and free myself from the negativity that has been lingering in my mind.  “Thoughts of lack manifest as limitation.  Thoughts of abundance manifest as success and happiness.”  Ernest Holmes, The Science of Mind.

It is clear to me that CSLGLV is my spiritual home.  I am so grateful to have found it after decades of denial and hiding from connection. Today, I am happily tithing $8,000.  This is based on the amount I should receive as a result of the real estate sale.  Wait…keep reading, it gets better!

I invite you to join me these next 30 days (July 16th-August 15th) to turn the $8,000.00 gift into a larger donation for Center for Spiritual Living, Greater Las Vegas.  Join me by matching these donated funds beyond your regular giving.  How much is possible?  Do you have some unexpected income such as a bonus, a sale of property, a raise, an inheritance or another gift that you can tithe?  We welcome your gift of $1.00, $10.00, $100.00, $1,000.00 and more!  Please use the special envelope in the Lobby or Sanctuary or place your donations in the prosperity baskets at the Center when you come for celebration services.  Designate your gift with the words "Month of Special Giving."

Thank you all for being a part of this abundant spiritual journey.

Love and peace,

Barbara Schweppe
