Spirituality in Action

2019 Annual Theme

2019 Theme Image 2

Along with many Centers for Spiritual Living around the world, CSLGLV is using a common annual theme. This allows us to feel part of something much larger than ourselves, and gives a sense of continuity for people who travel and visit other CSL's during the year.

The 2019 Theme, Spirituality in Action, was developed by the CSL Cultural Integrity & Evolution Committee. The theme is largely based on 10 "prophetic justice principles" developed, by Rev. Dr. James A. Forbes Jr. of Riverside Church, an interdenominational church on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City. He was the first African American minister to lead this multicultural congregation, and served it for 18 years.

You can read about each of these principles at http://socialgospel.blogspot.com/2004/09/prophetic-justice-principles.html

This exciting theme provides us with the opportunities to learn the value of social engagement and ways to do it. The CSL Spiritually Motivated Social Engagement Committee will be providing additional training opportunities as well, so stay tuned for those.

We have Books of the Month to support each monthly theme this year as well, and those will always be featured at 20% off the cover price in the Beacon of Light Bookstore.

"(One's) mind should swing from inspiration to action, from contemplation to accomplishment, from prayer to performance."
~Ernest Holmes, The Science of Mind pg. 477.2

"So many people pray and pray and pray. They don't get action. Our bodies need to be acted upon. It is not altogether praying, but it is doing. You must do something.”
~Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity
